School stars

On Tuesday, 15th of October,A group of Transition year students participated in the semi finals of school stars in TLT Drogheda.

We had two soloists, Mille Anderson who sang ‘‘She used to be mine’’ and Aisling Leahy who sang ‘‘Somebody like you’’. We also had two school groups. One was a dance group called UNITE and we had a Sign language choir. All acts were amazing.

When we first got there we had sound checks so we could see if the backing tracks were good and if we could get the lights right. The girls were nervous but excited.

The host was Shea Carey and the Judges were Derek Econs,Theresa Mckenna and Conor Whearty, Each one was amazing. Shea was making jokes all night and the judges were giving out very helpful advice to everyone.

Our first act was Mille, her song was beautifully sang, filled with so much emotion and power. Her voice was amazing and it wowed the crowd. The judges were extremely impressed and gave her amazing advice for carrying on during the future.

Our second act up was the school's choir ‘‘One Voice’’. It was a beautiful performance as all the girls learned ‘‘A sky full of stars’’ in sign language. One of the girls from 6th year had a solo and another played the piano while the others did the actions. At the end the girls finished by turning on their torches and all the lights went out. It was amazing and the judges were shocked.

Our next act was Aisling Leahy. Her voice was spectacular. The judges called her a natural and she was told she was made for broadway. Her song had natural vibratos and her breath control was astonishing. Over all the judges were extremely impressed.

Our last act was ‘‘Unite’’They lifted the atmosphere as they danced to an amazing remix. The group choreographed the dance themselves and the judges were very impressed. There dance routine was uplifting and lively and the judges enjoyed it.
In the end 3 out of 4 acts got through to the final. Well done to Aishling , Unite and One voice for getting through. Commiserations to other acts that didn’t place all of you were fantastic!
