Christmas Movies To Watch

It’s December which means it’s Christmas season! If you’re looking for a good Christmas movie to watch this season or to get your Christmas spirit up, then this article is for you! It’s a list of my favourite Christmas movies in no particular order. The list ranges from classics to newer movies. 

“'The Nightmare before Christmas' follows Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of HalloweenTown. He has grown bored of the trick or treats of Halloween every year when he stumbled into Christmas Town, the complete opposite of his hometown. He loves it so much that he decides to try to bring Christmas to his hometown and fill the shoes of Santa Clause."

Some may argue that this movie is a Halloween movie but I say it’s both. It includes both elements of Christmas and Halloween so you could definitely watch it during both holidays. The Nightmare is such a good movie that I think everyone should watch. It’s claymation which is a different style of movie than the normal. The actual cinematics and look of the movie are also just so beautiful.  The characters all have such unique designs and the songs are so good. It’s a festive movie and a Disney classic. It’s a beautiful movie and I strongly recommend you watch it this Christmas. The plot is great and a very interesting take on Christmas movies, while the actors are very talented in their roles.

“'The Grinch' tells the story of a cynical grump who hates Christmas and lives beside a town that loves the holiday. Each year their Christmas is bigger and brighter, to the annoyance of the Grinch He is so bitter about Christmas that he attempts to steal Christmas so nobody can celebrate it."

This is a classic. If you haven’t watched this before, then this is the year you need to watch it. It’s an amazing movie that truly brings out the festive spirit you need this christmas. From the style of the movie to the humor, it's an amazing movie. Jim Carrey as the Grinch is just the cherry on top. He plays the role amazingly.  It’s honestly one of the best Christmas movies around and you should definitely watch it this season. 

HOME ALONE

“When Kevin is left at home by himself by accident during Christmas when his family goes to France, he has the time of his life. It seems like paradise until two men attempt to break into his house and he has to put up a fight to try and keep them out.”

Once again, this is another classic and a must-watch if you haven’t already. It’s such a funny movie and Macauley Kulkin does such a good job playing Kevin. It’s a light movie and definitely one you can rewatch every year. Harry and Marv are also such funny characters and it’s entertaining to watch them attempting to break into the house over and over again. Even with its comedic themes, the movie is still wholesome and still contains that Christmas spirit. So this is high up on my list of favourite Christmas movies for certain.

“When a young man gets a new pet for Christmas, he has three rules he can’t break. Avoid bright lights, don’t get them wet and don’t feed them after midnight. He unintentionally breaks these rules and accidentally releases a horde of chaos and mischief in his town.”

Although this is more of an uncommon choice for a Christmas movie, it’s one of my favourites. It’s such a funny movie and the pure chaos of it is so entertaining. This is a classic and it’s by Steven Spielberg himself so  it’s guaranteed to be a good movie. It’s genuinely just a fun watch and if you haven’t watched it yet then I recommend you do.

“When Katie and Teddy Pierce attempt to capture Santa Claus on Christmas eve, their plan fails and accidentally puts Christmas at risk. They have to work with Santa Claus and his elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.”

This movie isn’t as commonly loved as the other movies on this list, but personally, I love this movie. It’s quite funny and it’s plenty entertaining. Kurt Russel in this movie plays such a good Santa. I love him for it. The music number in it is one of my favourite bits, both because it’s hilarious and it’s genuinely just such a cool scene. The movie is also so whimsical and wholesome that it touched me. It’s an underrated Christmas movie and I think everyone should watch it at least once. It’s a great movie to watch this Christmas.

Of course, everyone has different tastes and opinions on what are good and bad Christmas movies. These movies are just what I think are good movies, and the type of thing my family I watch every year. I think if you’re stuck for something to watch this season then you should definitely consider my list. They’ll definitely get you in the holiday season.
