Movie Recommendation: Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures is a must-see film for anyone looking for a film that combines inspiring stories of real historical figures and a powerful message about overcoming hardship.

The movie Hidden Figures was released in 2016 and was directed by Theodore Melfi. It is based on the true story of three African - American women, Katherine Johnson (played by Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (played by Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (played by Janelle Monae), who work at NASA during the 1960’s Space Race. The three women face a lot of prejudice and discrimination as both women and African - Americans and also faced a lot of challenges in their personal lives, but they still managed to overcome these obstacles and made significant contributions to one of the most important milestones in American history; getting the first American in space.

I would recommend this movie to anyone with an interest in politics/social justice or history, especially American politics/history. This movie revolves around serious and important topics, such as racism, gender inequality and segregation, but tackles them in a way that is easy to understand. I would also recommend this movie to girls who are interested in STEM. While fields like technology, science and engineering are male-dominated, this movie proves that women can be just as good as men in these fields, if not even better.

Overall, Hidden Figures is an awe-inspiring, thought-provoking and motivational movie that inspires people from all walks of life to pursue their dreams no matter what anyone else thinks.
